Once you box you just can't stop

shifty_gardenerSo, remember when I bought two past Kal-Elle boxes because someone nearly STOLE THE CAR?? Well, they came today! And with super cute boxes with the moria door + elvish writing on the bottom! I took a picture of it, but photobucket and I hate one another rn (and my senile computer is not helping things) so that shall remain unrevealed. You can kind of see it in the first pic.
Speaking of pics, I took these in crazy lighting so there is glare on some stuff like woah. Bear with me, if you would.
Sherlock
This was lackluster, imo. Despite the fact that it was supposed to be Sherlock (BBC) themed, it seemed she just put together random Arthur Conan Doyle-style stuff.

...okay, writing that makes me feel a bit better about it all. But I still think it shouldn't have been as specifically marketed as Sherlock BBC with this picture. Ughhh. I'm most disapointed in the earrings, the necklace and the socks. The socks could have been like a wallpaper pattern or something! Or a cute hedgehog and/or hammerhead shark! I think I need to remind myself that "fandom" doesn't mean "FANDOM," it means "fandom for muggles." The earrings are blocky and fake looking and actually have WORDS on them, which are way not subtle enough. They also could have been smaller with just the heads...ugh.
I do legit really like the charm bracelet (I'm wearing it right now! <3) but the letters would have to be closer together for it to actually look like it reads 221B. I like subtlety, so that isn't much of a problem. I also really enjoy the door print - the spaltter pattern is cute and it's small and adorable (Just a heads up: the prints in this one were postcard size, much smaller than the ones in Lootcrate and Guilty Pleasures Book Crate).
The socks are soft and kind of thick, although synthetic. Will totally wear. The keychains are cute, but I'll have to think about who is the Sherlock to my Watson or vice versa...feel free to apply if you want one of them, heh :3 Sadly since Katie defriended me I haven't had any unhealthily codependent friendships, alas.
I'm not sure whether I'll wear the necklace! It looks big and heavy, but so did the mario one I'm about to talk about, which has been great for the past few hours I've been wearing it. I appreciate that the chain doesn't look terrible, which is often my biggest criticisms of necklaces. So we shall see!
All in all, I was pretty pleased with this box. If I wasn't a crazy, rabid Sherlock BBC fan I would be very pleased, but I am, so things are as they are.
Super Mario box!
I already knew what was going to be in this box because the contents were displayed on the website, but it still made me super happy!! Ngl a large part of why I got this was because of the coasters. The secretary at my company is really judgy and kind of terrifying and gets annoyed when I get tea stains on the white coasters she provided. In fact, she actually confiscated mine a few weeks ago and threw them away without informing or asking me, presumably for this reason. But these coasters are black! So I got this box, heh.

COASTERS!!!!
Yoshi earrings
So first, the COASTERS. They were less substantial upon first holding, because they seem light and squishy, which is not what one expects from coasters. HOWEVER! This means it will absorb stuff rather than get slippery and wet, and most importantly, they're SPARKLY. I love them.
I also was looking forward to and super loved the Yoshi earrings and the Mario necklace, although I wished they matched a bit more. I guess the kind of non-matching colors mean I won't be tempted to wear them together and overdo the Mario? Haha. As mentioned above, I was concerned the Mario necklace looked huge, but it's fine! I reeallllyyyyyy hope the black color isn't something that will chip off. I'd be super sad if that were the case. And then I'd try painting it with nail polish or something. xD
I didn't notice the star ear cuff thing in the picture when I bought it, so that was a pleasant surprise. I like how topical that was, but because it's a cuff you can't really tell it's a star rather than a mysterious spiky thing. Oh well.
The Princess Peach print was a bit of a miss for me because the non-splatter background looks good with the splattery silhouette. And the fireball thing doesn't really make sense. Eh. The magnet was also a miss for me, and the Boo ring was unapologetically hideous and cheap looking (in the same way of the holmes and watson earrings). I'm super picky, though.
The lip balm is nice, I guess? It looks really professional, but I don't really use lip balm that isn't Burt's Bees because all of the other ones dry on my lips in a way I don't like.
I was excited to get the notepad thing, but the lines are really close together and the bit to write in is kind of small. I will use it, just less joyfully than I anticipated.
In conclusion: YAY! I am wearing several of these things even though they don't match.
I ALSO have signed up for a very promising thing called Ear Fleek, which for ~$3.50 a month and free shipping sends you one pair of earrings. You can choose between cutesy, boho, modern or random. Who knows how long these will last, but I think it's a great deal, esp since most of my earrings are old, tarnished and unworn. Here's what I got this month!:
They look like just the kind of basic statement earrings I'd want to wear but def not want to pay $10 or more for or actually pick out myself. Huzzah!
I really love the personalized message inside, too, haha. The wording is reminiscent of the feminist ryan gosling meme and gives a great treat yo'self vibe. <3 I wholeheartedly recommend it!
My general goal is to get more cute jewelry and accessories, so I am all in all satisfied. I think I'll keep the Kal Elle subscription, mostly bc it's for more casual fans of a thing so I'll still like the random months I'm not super into. Well, hopefully.
