The family started watching Arrow, which is a hilarious show about a billionaire vigilante who has chemistry with everyone (excluding his mother, including his sister) and luckily spent his shipwrecked time on an island learning the secret arts of superherohood, because his family and friends seriously do not know how to approach people unselfishly. Within the first few episodes, basically every character tells him how difficult his 5 years stranded was for them personally, which, what? I almost wish an actual PTSD'd Oliver had returned just to see their faces when he eventually snapped and, like, built a treehouse in the forest on the family estate and refused to come out. His mother hired a bodyguard for him rather than a therapist. Idk, between all of the vigilante-hood and billionaire-ness, somehow this is the most improbable thing to me.
Arrow, like most CW shows, has hella white people, but it also has Diggle! Who was the bodyguard but then is now sort of working with the main dude but refuses to do it on any terms other than his own! I'm so pleased he and main guy weren't super best friends instantly. Now they have to ~work~ for their relationship! There were a few episodes in the beginning that were there to establish parallels between Main Dude and Ruby 1.0 (from SPN! isn't that great! :D) and I was v entertained to note that the parallels were present in Diggle, as well.
The thing I'm most impressed by is that the writers seem very aware of the conclusions viewers will jump to, and manipulate them as much as possible. Things will be presented in a certain way/you'll think you're seeing one reaction on a person's face when you find out later it was actually about something completely different. It is so great! Thought is going into this! Even though they seem to have no idea how much Main Dude's sister seems to be in love with Main Dude. >.> Everything has its flaws, I suppose. Lol.

Date: 2014-03-05 03:27 am (UTC)YOU SHOULD WATCH ARROW! If you don't have too many shows going on, that is. Speaking of, have you seen the latest Elementary? That show always delivers. /happy sigh

Date: 2014-03-06 02:23 am (UTC)And latest elementary being the one with lestrade and the fancy rich dude who likes to bone people (I think this was a character in a neil gaiman book)? Then, yes! It was good in the characters part but I felt like this was one of the eps where they made sherlock a little too good at being a detective so I didn't enjoy it quite as much. They usually do a good job of making him believable (compared to bbc sherlock is all about how ridiculous he is and it makes sense cause moffat would wirte a dude like that [just like he always writes the "fangirl" character to be in love with them; see: watson & molly])
also sorry for the lack of correct grammar and if the sentences don't make sense. I worked for 8 hours straight today so I'm kind of in a DGAF mood

I loved the episode because I haven't wached Elementary for weeeeeks and it's always refreshing to come back to it and be like, hark! a show with actual emotional arcs! Joan's interactions with Sherlock make every episode amazing.
Sorry your day was arduous :\ I hope you are petting a cat/drinking something warm and nice rn.
