shifty_gardenerIt's always really terrible in books/fic/whatever when the author has a character reading a book that they mention in passing that doesn't actually exist because they usually sound awesome and yet remain nonexistent no matter how much I wish for them to be real. I even wish for the ones that don't sound awesome to be real, just on principle (case in point: Hermione's addiction to the series Love on the High Seas in a fic of olde. that needs to exist for gag gift purposes. And I'm still bitter that it doesn't, 10 years later.)
Ccon is going to be INSANE. The schedule of only two days have been released so far, and I know I'm going to be in panels all day for both of them (X-Files!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Game of Thrones/Veronica Mars/The World's End, respectively). I abso need to get a good seat for the X-Files panel, which is between Sherlock and Teen Wolf dear god why, which means camping out or at least getting there obscenely early. The latter is in Hall H and The World's End is at the beginning of the day, so camping out is a definitely. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so insane on no sleep. This will go v badly. (esp since Rachel and I are driving up to Humboldt for a wedding and returning the day before ccon)
There was this weird webcomic in 2001 that was discontinued after three chapters that I reread every few years; the last time this happened, I clicked around the site, which lead me to a blog, which lead me to another site and, wonder of wonders, the author still exists and is doing actual animation (she worked on Coraline, for starters) and will be at Comic Con! So I'm going to hunt her down at some point and tell her that her weirdo beginning comic was loved and still haunts the mind of some.
New haircuuuut! By someone who understands fine, white person hair, for once. Finally, the copious layers my hair requires. Now my hair actually looks nice even on the days when it shouldn't. :)
1. Shero must be a leprechaun because if he doesn't have unlimited (fake) gold on demand idek what his plan is for the cap limit, keeping Fleury, Letang AND Dupuis on top of Crosby + Malkin (that will be there foreverrrr ♥)
2. Carolina picked up some solid defense! Now all they need is a reliable backup goalie and maybe they won't tank halfway through next season.
3. Briere to MTL oh my. I'm happy he went there, because I didn't want to have to vaguely follow yet another team. (sorry Habs, you're still only under the "vaguely follow" list) I'm sadfacing for Les Brioux but I choose to think that this means it's 3x more likely for either of them to meet the others' extended family, so. Yey.
4. Blackhawks alumns going to Edmontonnn \o/ It's sad for Hall and Eberle that Whits is leaving, but eh, what can you do.
5. I get the feeling that Bryz ended up somewhere but I can't for the life of me remember where, and googling does nothing. /sleep deprivation Good riddance to the Flyers. I'm happy only Giroux is there so I don't have to mildly like them.
6. Kane and Toews continue to ship themselves with some very suggestive use of alcohol in their cup celebrations.
I might be convinced to play rugby with Sam this coming Fall. Will probably decide against it at the last minute, though, because I probably don't need to injure myself further and at any given moment I could exacerbate my shin splints/tendonitis/bad ankle.
